    Para. 3 Identity equaling job
Ask a man who he is and he will tell you what he does. His identity lies in his work. In studies of unemployment during the Great Depression, job loss was regarded as a greater shock to men than to women, although the loss of income affected both. It is no different today—losing one’s job can still be crushing to a man’s self-esteem.

    Translation
    Para.

    the Great Depression
