This
is an excerpt taken from Jerome’s humorous novel Three Men in a Boat (1889).
The three men were talking about what to take in their boat along the Thames.
After they had excluded oil for its pungent smell, they came to cheese,
and one of his misadventure with some smelly cheeses.
This hilarious narrative
describes the author’s misadventure with smelly cheese. The humor of this
piece comes from his generous use of exaggeration and his portrayal of the
narrator as being seemingly totally unaware of the havoc caused by the cheese. |
