			dull: (1) (adj.) not clear or bright 不清楚的；不鲜明的 1.The dull day makes people depressed. 阴天给人压抑的感觉。 2.He is dull of hearing.他的耳朵有点聋。 (2)slow in understanding 头脑迟钝的；蠢笨的 1.He is a dull person. 他这个人很笨。 2.The boy gave a dull response to what he is required. 这孩子的反应总是很迟钝。 (3)monotonous;uninteresting 单调的；无趣味的；枯燥的 1.I can not bear the dull film. 我无法忍受这么无聊的电影。 2.This is such a dull book. 这本书真是太枯燥了。 (4)not sharp;(of pain)not felt distinctly 钝的; （指痛）隐约感觉到的 1.The dull knife needs sharpening. 这把钝的刀需要磨得锋利些。 2.I got a dull ache in my stomach. 我的胃隐约的有点疼。 isolation: ( n.)(1)isolating or being isolated 隔离；孤立；隔绝 1.He lives in isolation from others. 他独自一人居住。 2.We’d better consider facts in isolation from others. 我们最好单独考虑某些事实。 isolate: (v.) to separate,put or keep apart from others 使隔离；使隔绝 1.He still felt isolated from his fellows. 在同伴中他仍感到孤立。 2.Due to his illness,he is isolated . 由于患病的原因，他被隔离了。 ephemeral: (adj.) temporary 暂时的；短暂的；瞬息的 1.We will have a ephemeral stay here. 我们将在这短暂停留。 2.Happiness is always ephemeral. 幸福总是短暂的。 trivial: (adj.) of small value or importance 无价值的；不重要的 1.He got a trivial loss. 他只是有点小损失。 2.They raised a trivial objections against the proposal. 他们对这条意见提出了无足轻重的反对意见。 resolution: (n.) quality of being resolute 坚决；刚毅 1.He is a man with great resolution. 他是个非常有毅力的人。 2.She lacks resolution in front of difficulty. 在困难面前她缺乏毅力。 (2)determination 决心；决心要做的事 1.The boy made good resolutions. 这孩子下定决心做好事。 2.She gave up her resolution never to marry. 她放弃了用不结婚的决心。 resolute: (adj.)fixed in determination; firm 坚决的；刚毅的 1.He is a resolute man. 他是个刚毅的人。 2.We are all resolute against war. 我们坚决反对战争。 survive: (v.)to continue to live or exist;to remain alive after 残存；生命较…长；经历…后仍然活着 1.They all survived an earthquake. 他们幸免于一场地震。 2.The old lady has survived all her children. 那位老妇人的子女都先她而去世了。 confine: (v.)(1)to keep or hold,restrict 限制；限于范围内 1.He tried to confine himself to the subject. 他尽力使自己不离题。 2.Please confine your remarks to what we are debating. 请你的发言不要离开我们所讨论的内容。 (2)to keep shut up 关起来；禁闭 1.The bird is confined in the cage. 这只鸟被关在笼子里。 2.He is confined to the house by illness. 他受疾病的限制不能出门。 tedious: (adj.) tiresome;wearying;uninteresting 沉闷的；厌烦的；乏味的 1.This is a very tedious task. 这项任务非常乏味。 2.She left that tedious party alone. 她独自离开了那个乏味的晚会。
