程度副词(Adverbs of Degree)

(3)would rather … than 宁愿…；更喜欢…
A. would rather + present infinitive 表示“当前更喜欢”之意。
例如：
1.He would rather go by train (than fly).
他更喜欢坐火车。（与坐飞机相比）
2.I would rather watch a film( than a soap opera).
与看肥皂剧相比我更喜欢看电影。
B. would rather + perfect infinitive 表示一种未能实现的愿望
1.We took a taxi home, but I would rather have walked.
我们坐出租车回家的，但我更想走回家。
2.We went to the cinema last night, but I would rather have stayed at home.
昨天晚上我们去看电影了，但是我宁愿待在家里。
注：上面的句子的主语是不定式的施动者。当句子的主语不是不定式的施动者时，would rather 通常用到这样的结构里： would rather+n/pronoun +verb in a past tense (虚拟）
1.I’m sure she’d rather you told her the truth.
我确定她宁愿你告诉她事实。
2.I’d rather they hadn’t put my name forward as a candidate.
我宁愿他们没有推举我为候选人。
(4)rather than 意为“in stead of”或“in place of”即“而不是”或“代替”。Rather than 通常用在平行结构里，它所连接的两个部分必须是同等语法成分。
1.I think she is shy rather than proud. 我想她是害羞而不是骄傲。
2.We pay more attention to what he can do rather than what he says.
我们更在乎他能做什么,而不是他说什么。
