			took up 在此处的意义是 to continue “ 继续 ”; 另外还有以下的含义： (a) 开始花时间从事（某项活动), to begin to spend time doing (b) 打听，询问, to ask about 1. I’ll take up the story where I finished yesterday. 我会从昨天故事停的地方继续讲下去。 2. John took up acting while he was at college. 约翰在上大学时开始喜欢上演戏。 3. I’ll take this matter up with my lawyers. 我会就此事询问我的律师。 exasperate (v.) 使恼怒，激怒 该词一般用作过去式。 同义词：annoy, 1. He was so exasperated by his roommate’s snoring that he went out of the room. 他被同房间人的鼾声弄得如此恼火，以至走出了房间。 2. I was exasperated by all the noise. 我被这种喧闹声弄得很烦恼。 haunting 原形 haunt(v.)，（思想） 萦绕，（疾病）缠身。不用进行式，常用被动式。 同义词：frequent, hang around 1. I was haunted by his last words to me. 我的脑中老是萦绕着他对我说的最后几句话。 2. She had a haunted look, as if she were constantly anxious or afraid. 她现出一种提心吊胆的样子，似乎她总在担惊受怕 。 I am still just as ignorant for all your telling me. Meaning: You told me the names of the flowers when we were Ken Gardens, but because I have not remembered those names, I am still just as ignorant as I was then. 你告诉我的（那些花名）我至今还是不知道。 drew a breath, 吸气 同义短语：to take (breath ) in 1. She drew a deep breath and then continued. 她深深地吸了一口气，然后继续讲。 2. The price of this article is out of all proportion to its value. 这物品的价格大大超出了它的价值。 2. His story was exaggerated out of proportion. 他的故事夸张得离谱了。 faded (v.) 褪色；（声音）减弱 同义词：decline, dim, 1. Flowers soon fade when they have been cut. 花剪下后很快就会枯萎。 2. These curtains were once bright green but the sun has faded them. 这些窗帘一度是鲜绿色的，但现在已经被晒得褪色了。
