Ⅰ省略句（Elliptical Sentences）
b. Sorry, wrong number. 对不起，号码错了。
(3) a.（Come）This way, please. 请这边走。
b. —Did you like the film? —这影片你喜欢吗？
—Oh, very much.. —啊，很喜欢。
(4) a.—Are they to paint it green or red? —他们预备把它漆成绿色还是红色？
—Red, I guess. —我想是漆成红色。
b. Looking for me? 找我？
c. Got any ink? 有墨水吗？
5) 不定式：
He didn’t come, though we had invited him to (come).
我们曾邀请他来，但他没来。
6) 冠词：
a. (A) Friend of mine gave it to me. 我的一个朋友给我的。
b. (The) Trouble is we don’t have enough tools to go round.
问题是工具不够。
c. (The) Fact is we don’t know it ourselves.
事实是我们自己也不知道。
7) 其他成分：
a. (Of) Course that’s only a beginning. 当然这还只是一个开头。
b. —Shall we be late? —我们会不会迟到？
— I hope (we shall) not (be late). —我希望不会。
2．简单句中的省略
1) 简单句中常有一些成分给省略掉。这种情况在对话时最为普通, 不管是回答别人的问题(1), 或是在接着别人说话时(2), 都会发生：
(1) a. —How are you getting along with your work? —你们的工作进行得怎样？
—Pretty well. —还不错。
b. —How is the weather? —天气怎么样？
—Going to clear up. —快晴了。
c. —When are we due to arrive? —我们什么时候能到？
—In about two hours. —两个钟头后能到。
