Excellent meal! 菜好极了！ 3．复合句中的省略 1）有些表示时间、地点、条件、方式或让步等的从句中，如果谓语包含有动词be, 主语又和句子的主语一致（1），或者主语是it（be），就常常可以把从句中的主语和谓语的一部分（特别是动词be）省略掉： (1) a. Look out for cars when crossing the street. 过街时注意车辆。 b. While there he joined in voluntary labour on a project. 他在那里时参加了一项工程的义务劳动。 c. Although not yet six months old, she was able to walk without support. 尽管她还不到半周岁，她不要人扶就能走路。 d. This viewpoint, however understandable, is wrong. 这种观点，不管多么可以理解，却是错误的。 e. Fill in the application as instructed. 按照要求填写申请表。 f. Whenever known, such facts should be reported. 这类情况，一经发现，就应当报告。 (2) a. If necessary I’ll have the letter duplicated. 如果必要我可以请人把这信复写一下。 b. If possible, I should like to have two copies of it. 可能的话我希望有两本。 c. As scheduled, they met on January 20 at the Chinese Embassy. 他们按原计划于一月二十日在中国大使馆见了面。 d. They will try to put the plan into practice as quickly as quickly as possible. 他们将尽快把这计划付诸实施。
