			put (v.) 1) move to or cause to be in a specified place or position 放，置；使处于特定地点（位置） 1. He puts the key in his pocket. 他把钥匙放在口袋里。 2. She put the children to bed. 她把小孩放到床上睡觉。 2) to cause sb. to be in certain state or position 使（某人）处于某种状态 1. The incident put her in a bad mood. 这件事使她心情很不好。 2. Your decision puts me in an awkward position. 你的决定把我弄得很尴尬。 3) to express in words 表达或表述 1. She put it very clearly. 她说得很清楚。 2. That’s very well put. 那话十分得体。 Phrases: put across 讲清楚；使听懂 put aside 放在一边 put away 省（钱）；将某人送进监牢或精神病院 put back 放回；拨转（时钟） put down 放下；镇压 put forward 提出 put in 插话 put off 推迟 put on 穿；演（戏）；骗人 put out 出版;灭(火);生产 put up 建造;举(手);挂上,贴上;提供住宿 put up with 忍受 put an end to 结束 Comparing the following words: put, place, lay, set 这组词都有“放”、“放置” 的意思。 put (v.):move to or cause to be in a specified place or position “放”、“放置、“搁”，意义最广泛的普通用词，它强调把东西放在某地方或某位置，使该东西处于某种地位、某种情况或某种关系的动作。还可指抽象意义上的安放，如决心、心思等。 1. Don’t put the vase on the veranda, you’ll break it. 不要把花瓶放在阳台上，你会把它打碎的。 2.You won’t succeed with the work if you don’t put your mind to it. 如果你的心不放在工作上，你就不能工作做好。 place (v.) ：put (sth) in a particular place “放在某位置”、“使处于某位置”，较正式用词，不强调动作，而强调某一确定的地点或情况。这个词指将某物或某人安置在适当的地方，以用于某种特别的用途，但更强调安放的位置或状态。 1. Place the silverware on the table for dinner. 将银制餐具摆到餐桌上，准备开饭。 2. Mr. Smith placed his hat and overcoat on a chair. 史密斯先生把他的帽子和外衣放在凳子上。 lay (v.) : put (sth/sb) in a certain position or on a surface “放，摆，搁”，这个词指小心地、轻轻地、整齐地“平放、摆放、铺放”，也指将东西放在适当的位置，在工业建设中常指铺设管道、线路等。 1. Don’t lay your pen on the desk uncapped. 不要将钢笔不带笔帽就放在桌子上。 2. They laid the carpet on the floor. 他们把地毯铺在地板上。 set (v.) ：put (sth) in the specified place or position; place “放，置，设置”，这个词强调置于一定的或确定的位置或地位。指有目的地将物体平稳地放在某一特定的地方或位置，或按正确的位置、顺序或状态放置物体以备使用。 1. Please set the box on its end. 请将这箱子竖着放。 2. I will set this aside for future use. 我将把这部分储存起来，以便备用。
