Dialogue Two Meet
on the Street |
|
John:
We’re going to the country for a sightseeing trip tomorrow.
Would you go outing with us?
Miss Wang: I’ve been rather busy
lately. But I’d like to do some sightseeing with you for one day.
J: Oh, we intend
to make a day of it! In the morning we’ll be joining a guided tour
of the National Art Galley, followed by a boat trip down the river.
We’ll take our lunchboxes with us and have a picnic lunch in the woods.
W: This is a nice time of the
year for picnic.
J: It’s a perfect way for a boat ride on the river
too. How about swimming?
W: I don’t like to swim very much.
I’d like to sit and fish.
J: I’m
very fond of fishing too.
It’s so restful
sitting by the riverside angling.
W: Then how about afternoon?
J: After lunch we’ll take
a nap in the shade on one
of the hills.
W: Good idea. After that, we’ll
probably spend the rest of the afternoon wandering through the museums.
J: you really don’t know how huge these museums are.
You’ll need much more than one afternoon to get
through them.
W: In that case, we should leave
that for some other day. What about going to the zoo?
J: That’s not a bad idea. We can spend a
couple of
hours there comfortably, or even a whole afternoon.
W: I’ll buy some nuts and feed
those greedy monkeys and bears. I shouldn’t like you to miss
those lovable Chinese pandas.
J: I wonder if they have any photographs for
sale. I’d like some as a souvenir.
W: One more thing, l have a rather
poor sense
of direction. Is there any danger of losing
our way?Maybe we’ll carry a compass along.
J: You can leave it to me. I know the place like
the back of my hand.
W: Great! I can see we’re going
to have a most enjoyable and profitable time there tomorrow. |
