			point out : direct attention to sth. 使注意某事物 point sth out to sb 1. I must point out that further delay would be unwise. 我必须指出再延误就要吃大亏。 2. I have to point out the mistake to you. 我得把错误给你指出来。 break down : cease to function because of mechanical,electrical fault. ( 因机器、电力等) 故障停止运转，失灵、失效 1. The telephone system has broken down. 电话系统失灵了。 2. We broke down on the highway. 我们的车在高速公路上抛锚了。 of sb’s health become very bad; collapse （指某人的身体状况）变得恶劣 1. His health broke down. 他的身体垮了。 2. Her health broke down under the pressure of work. 工作的压力把她的身体压垮了。 on the contrary : the opposite is true 与此相反；正相反 1. It doesn’t ugly to me ; on the contrary I think it’s rather beautiful. 我觉得它并不丑，相反，它挺美。 2. I do not admire him, on the contrary, I don’t like him. 我不羡慕他，与此相反，我不喜欢他。 lose one’s control: get out of control 失去控制 1. The car lost its control on the highway. 这台车在高速公路上失去了控制。 2. Inflation of this country has lost its control. 这个国家的通货膨胀已失去了控制。 Comparing the following words: provoke, arouse, disturb, stimulate provoke (v) : cause sb to react to sth esp by making him angry 意思是“刺激”; “招怒”; “致使”; “迫使”, 尤指是某人或某物生气,发怒而使其采取行动。 1. If you provoke the dog, it will attack you. 如果你去招惹那条狗，它会咬你。 2.His rudeness provoked her into slapping his face. 他的无理气得她打了他一耳光。 arouse (v) : cause sth to appear; awake 意思是“引起”，“唤醒”，动作的意味较弱，表是使某人从睡眠状态中醒来或鼓励某人由不积极状态变为积极状态。 1. My mother aroused me from sleep. 我母亲把我从睡梦中唤醒。 2.Of all the planets, Mars always arouses the greatest curiosity. 在所有的行星中，火星一直引起人们最大的好奇心。 disturb (v) : cause sb to worry 意思是“打扰”，“扰乱”，指某人的行动妨碍了别人的正常秩序而使人不得安宁。 1. She will be angry if you disturb her while she is studying. 学习时，如果你打扰她，她会生气的。 2. He did not wish to be disturbed in this work. 他做这项工作时不愿别人打扰。 stimulate (v) : arouse sb/sth 意思是“刺激”，“鼓舞”，“促进思想和感觉”，尤指某事或话语使人情绪激动，或激起做某事的热情或动力 1. The teacher’s praise stimulated the students to work hard. 教师的表扬激发了学生的学习热情。 2. The higher pay stimulated the workers to make greater efforts. 高工资激发了工人更大的干劲。
