Text B     General Principles of Business Writing
Business writing is nonfiction writing about a business related subject, addressed to a particular audience to achieve a particular purpose.
It is writing that relies on facts. The audience to be addressed to could be one person, several people, or even thousands. It all depends on what particular purpose the document intends to achieve.
A letter from a bank about the financial standing of a certain company is, for instance, a confidential report to the inquirer usually, a company intending to start business with the company under investigation. A corporate annual report, on the contrary, communicates to the public what happened in the corporation that year. It is meant to suggest the good management of the corporation so as to inspire confidence among the stockholders.
Generally speaking, business writing includes litters, reports, contracts, forms, in ¨Chouse correspondence and employment correspondence, and so forth. In whatever form you write, you will have to consider how to write effectively. A persuasive letter of sales promotion will certainly help to increase business opportunity with other people while an ambiguous letter of acceptance is but a waste of time.
