Background

Exercise is important for the health of body and mind. It is effective as a tranquilizer. People who exercise suffer less from anxiety and are able to work harder and study more efficiently. Exercise also helps people sleep well. The greatest value of exercise is the way it train one¡¯s heart. People who continue to exercise late into adult life live longer and are less likely to die from heart attacks. For an adult, the best kind of exercise is one that strengthens the heart. The training goal is to raise the pulse rate to 120 beats per minute for at least 30 minutes three times a week.Exercise, in addition , enlarges blood vessels, lowers the amount of low-density cholesterol, decreases feelings of stress and lowers blood pressure.

In other words exercise helps prevent heart attacks. The most highly recommended sports for training the heart include bicycling, jumping , jogging, ice skating , jumping rope and cross-country skiing. Swimming and dancing are also excellent sports as long as people do them vigorously and for long enough time. There is no age limit for a person to do exercise, but everyone over 35 should get a stress electrocardiogram to find out how his or her heart will behave with vigorous exercise.
