Synopsis
Electronic communication has made it possible for all types of people to be educated whether in or out of the classroom. But in the next 50 years, the computer will act as an individualized instructor. According to individual abilities, each student can use the computer to develop his own knowledge without being disturbed by other students in the same classroom. In addition, teaching can be based on effective programs more suitable to the growth of the human brain.
By the turn of the century the computer will be used to teach the basic subjects, although teachers will still be useful in the areas such as creative writing. The development of the computer will provide much more opportunities for college education, which will enhance the quality of the citizens. Education will be conducted in corporations which have more advanced technology than most campuses do.
Meanwhile, a large number of ˇ°publicˇ± professors (experts who appear on TV or radio) will become nationally known . Although some people worry that the gap between the educated rich and the uneducated poor will become even greater, there is still hope that all Americans will become computer literate.
