Questions for Consideration


1. What is the main difference between Stanley¡¯s and Clive¡¯s viewpoints?

Father was practical and conservative. Son was concerned about his own ideas, and did not want to obey the rules made by others.

2. What do you think is the primary cause of generation gap? Why are conflicts between father and son particularly difficult to solve?

The primary cause of generation gap is the age. Owing to different ages, people have different social background and experience, which then leads to different opinions to the world. Conflicts between father and son are particularly difficult to solve, because father is not like mother, who is always ready to show her love. Father is more strict and serious. He is apt to keep deep emotions inside.

3. What is more important for you at university ¡ª¡ªto make good contacts with important people or to gain knowledge? Give reasons for your answer.
