Warm-up Activity

1.
What¡¯s his family¡¯s reaction to his cancer?

His family suffer great from his cancer. The great pressure has caused by his illness is starting to cause problems in his family, such as Tammy failed in lessons; Mark was sullen much of the time; and Lori was subdued. No one in his family seemed happy any longer.

2. What¡¯s Kelly¡¯s reaction to his own disease at first?

He cried, felt lonely, had nightmares; he was in despair, even thought of suicide.

3. What makes Kelly stop blaming God?

It is the beauty of the world that makes him realize that he is owning life,he is part of it; and he loves life , most important , he loves his family so he must treasure it.

4. Why does Kelly want to write his own stories ?

He wants to live a normal life with cancer.

5. What made Kelly¡¯s first piece of writing win a first prize in the winter writing contest?

It was a moving story which told of human love ¡ª love for kids from their parents and also love from God.

6. In his second piece of story , Kelly tries to convey to people his gratitude for God whose presence makes possible the miracle of living; and talk with them about their view on his decision to start an organization of people with incurable diseases. What made him think of that?

His gratitude for God¡¯s love and his love for other people made him think that. It was this love for life that encouraged the author to make today count.
